ZAO GreenCoal Rusland was established in 2004 by the Dutch charcoal company GreenCoal B.V. and the Russian timber company OOO Lescom Trade.

GreenCoal Rusland produces 1,400 tonnes of charcoal per year at its own production facility near St. Petersburg. The charcoal is made from sustainable wood resources – tree-trunks from forest thinnings as well as clean residues from timber production. The company’s charcoal production technology is innovative, environmentally friendly, and energy efficient.

  Vision
Sustainably produced charcoal is expected to gain a significant position as a renewable source of energy. Charcoal demands in Scandinavia and Western Europe are growing from year to year. Because of its abundant wood resources and its favourable location for export and trade, the North-western part of the Russian Federation is very suitable for the large scale production of charcoal. GreenCoal Rusland aims to increase its production capacity in the Russian Federation to 50,000 tonnes per year.
